Claire Rushton and Yvonne Dawydiak are offering three after school workshops on Thursdays during EDUC321 for all SEL and PLTech cohort members. TC participation in at least one of these offerings is strongly recommended. SAs are also cordially invited to attend with you!

Thurs. Feb 4th – Maker Space to develop a 21st C mindset: Curtis Wiebe, librarian and pltch alumnus (class of 2014) is opening his learng commons to us at Strawberry Hill Elementary from 4pm – 6pm. You are invited to come by, visit and explore a variety of stations that include making and coding activities. 3D printing, Dash and Dot, Little Bits, Makey makey and more willb e available for hands on fun! Curtis will begin with a brief overview of some of what has worked (and what hasn’t worked) since he began revisioning the library at the school. Snacks, prizes and a 3D printed ‘takeaway’ to those who register! Please register by Friday, Jan. 29th

Feb. 11th – Inquiry + Math + Tech = Learning: Jen Barker, SD36 helping teacher, CITE cohort coordinator and Math Methods Instructor (UBC) will facilitate this hands on minds on opportunity to delve into the world of Math and how math teaching and learning is enhanced with inquiry and technology. Join us at DEC (Surrey District Education Center) with Taunya Shaw, the district’s SEL coordinator as she links the theoretical with the practical to deepen your understanding of Social Emotional Learning and the value to our students. 4:00 (soft start) – 5:30pm
